Portland has a rich cultural history.
And, according to a tiny blue book I found in the Multnomah County Library, “Museums and Collections of Portland (2014)” by Carye Bye, there are some 56 museums.
They include everything from Kidd’s Toy Museum and the Portland Police Museum to the Portland Art Museum.
Check out this Wikipedia list for details on the major museums.
Wikipedia may be a little bit too serious in its description, leaving out oddballs like the FreakyButTrue Peculiarium and Museum.
Portland also has lots of big and small theaters — from intimate 50-person theaters, like Coho (home of Third Rail Repertory Theater Company) to the Portland 5, major venues for celebrity speakers and authors, plays, dance performances, and concerts.
